I was on the computer the other night, deep into responding to emails around bed time when I really should have been putting the kids to bed. As I was typing out a response to someone, I heard a sweet voice walk up next to ask, "Mommy, will you put me to bed?" I gently explained to her that I had about 5 more minutes left to finish this email and I would be right there. Two minutes later another voice around me asked, "Mama, can you read me a story?" I told him 'Yes' I would, but I had about three minutes left on the computer and I would be right there. Soon, the third little voice behind me said, " Mama, I want you to pray with me tonight." Right then, I stopped what I was doing, turned to my child, put my hand on her shoulders, and told her, "absolutely, let's go."
Each of these requests reflected exactly what my children were hungry for. They were hungry for my presence and they wanted me to cover them in prayers.
My greatest privilege in life is being a mom. To pray over my children every night may sound like a mundane and tiresome task, but it's actually a very powerful opportunity and gift. When you pray over your kids, you are filling them up with life-giving words and connecting them, not only with your heart, but with the very heart of the Father. Our children are hungry for life- giving words. Taking the time to minister to them and to steward their hungry and growing relationship with their Heavenly Father, is one of the greatest missions. Our children are hungry. If we don't feed them truth, who else will feed them? I don't know about you, but I don't want to even think about it. So, excuse me while I go pray over my kids now. All the other things, especially emails, can wait.

“Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.
